Companion Movie Review
Josh is the only thing that matters to Iris. She remembers that she fell in love with him on a trip to the grocery store. She remembers that as the awkward lad rocked the orange counter, she started laughing and fell in love at first sight. A clear memory! However, it didn't. Since technically Iris doesn't exist, that never occurred. In other words, although she does not exist, she does have physicality or a presence. She belongs to the category of "love automatons" and is not human. Love without conditions is a fabrication.
Part of the thriller Companion Flixtor, which plays fun at ideas long supported by Philip K. Dick and Isaac Asimov, is about the growth of artificial intelligence and its ongoing discussion. causing an inverted Turing effect, where Josh has to convince Iris that he is a machine, but she refuses to accept this, holding onto what she perceives to be her life and, as a result, her memories. Iris is a sentient, possibly conscious machine.
